Kruger’s Young Performers Bring the Beat of Samoa to Goodna

Kruger State School Brings Samoan Spirit to the Jacaranda Festival Opening Ceremony

The Goodna Jacaranda Festival is proud to welcome Kruger State School’s Cultural Performance Group to this year’s Opening Ceremony on Thursday, 24th October at 7 pm — and audiences are in for something truly special.

Made up of passionate Year 5 and 6 students, the Kruger cultural group celebrates the rich diversity of their school community through dance, rhythm, and storytelling. This year, they will present a vibrant Samoan performance — a dynamic fusion of two traditional styles: the sasa, a powerful seated dance known for its rhythm and precision, and the siva Samoa, a graceful dance that tells stories through movement.

Kruger State School proudly embraces its multicultural community, where Samoan is the second most spoken language after English. This strong cultural influence is woven into school life and regularly celebrated through events, performances, and learning experiences that highlight the many heritages represented among its students.

Through performances like this, the Kruger community continues to honour the heritage of its students, foster cultural understanding, and inspire pride in identity. The Jacaranda Festival is thrilled to provide a platform for these talented young performers to share their culture, energy, and joy with the wider community.

Come along and experience the colour, rhythm, and spirit of this beautiful Samoan showcase — and join us in applauding the incredible students of Kruger State School for helping us open the 2025 Goodna Jacaranda Festival in style! 💜
